New Rainfall Record Set in Dubuque

This morning’s rainfall has already set a daily record for Dubuque. As of 10:00 this morning, the Dubuque Regional Airport had received 1.72 inches of rain. That shatters the previous record for August 6th. The old mark was 1.17 inches, which was set back in 1907. That rainfall is on top of another .86 inches of rain that fell last night, giving the airport a total for this storm of 2.58 inches. Locations within the city of Dubuque are receiving even more rain than the airport. Lock and Dam 11 and the KCRG StormNet weather station at Hempstead High School had caught just more than 3.1 inches by 9:00 this morning. Cascade is reporting the highest rainfall total since last night with 4.16 inches, which Dyersville has received 4.09 inches. Rainfall is expected to continue this afternoon and into the evening hours tonight.
