Mullis Sentencing Pushed Back

The sentencing date for a Delaware County man accused of killing his wife with a corn rake last year on the family farm in Earlville has been moved to early next year. The sentencing hearing for 43 year old Todd Mullis will be held on March 17th. Mullis was convicted by a jury in Dubuque County in September of first degree murder. He was accused of stabbing his wife Amy Mullis to death last November. Prosecutors said he was angry that she was having an affair. Mullis has hired a new attorney who requested the delay in sentencing so he could become familiar with the case. The deadline for post-trial motions for attorneys was also extended to February 28th. A first degree murder conviction carries a mandatory life in prison sentence in Iowa.
