Monday’s Rainfall Set Daily Dubuque Record

Nearly an inch of rain fell on Dubuque on Monday, breaking an 80-year-old record. The National Weather Service reports that the Dubuque Regional Airport collected 0.95 inches of rain during the day on Monday. That shatters the previous record of 0.78 inches, which fell on January 7 of 1937. That new rainfall pushes Dubuque’s total for the first week of the year to 1.02 inches, which is about three-quarters of an inch above normal. Since the beginning of December, Dubuque has taken on just more than three inches of precipitation, which is a full inch more than usual. Most of that has come as rain, as the city’s snowfall total since December 1st is just 2.1 inches. That’s an entire foot below the normal reading.
