Big 7th Lifts Brewers Over Reds
CINCINNATI (AP) – Christian Yelich singled with the bases loaded and belted his major league-leading 30th homer as the Milwaukee Brewers downed the Reds, 8-6 at Cincinnati. Milwaukee sent 10 batters to the plate for five runs in the seventh inning before Yelich added a two-run blast in the ninth. The Reds led 3-1 until the seventh-inning eruption.
Bell and Pirates Pound Cubs
PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Brewers lead the NL Central by one game over Chicago after Josh Bell slammed three more homers in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 18-5 thrashing of the Cubs. Bell belted a three-run shot off Adbert Alzolay in the first, added a two-run shot off the Cubs rookie in the second and finished off a four-hit, seven-RBI night by going deep against newly-signed Chicago closer Craig Kimbrel in the eighth. Adam Frazier finished 5 for 6 and tied a major-league record with four doubles. Colin Moran collected a career-high five hits for the Pirates.
