Mississippi’s Decline to Pick Up Speed This Week
The Mississippi River level at Dubuque will begin falling a bit more quickly this week, though a drop below flood stage is still a ways off. The Mississippi’s depth at the Dubuque Railroad Bridge was measured at about 20.6 feet this morning. The National Weather Service projects the river level to stay mostly steady through the day on Tuesday, before beginning to fall on Wednesday. The river level is expected the drop to 19.3 feet by the end of the week. That’s a decrease of nearly a foot and a half over five days. If the river would continue to fall at that pace, it would drop below the flood stage on the final day of April.
