Mississippi Crest at Dubuque Coming Friday
The Mississippi River at Dubuque is still expected to crest tomorrow, and we now have an idea of when the river will fall back below the “major flood” stage. According to updated projections from the National Weather Service, the river will top out at 22.6 feet at the Dubuque Railroad Bridge during the midday hours tomorrow. That crest is slightly above the high water mark that the weather service had been projecting as recently as yesterday, but is still in line with predictions from earlier this week. The river is expected to hold at that depth for about 24 hours before starting to fall. At this point, the river is expected to drop back down to the “major flood” stage of 21.5 feet by Tuesday morning. There’s no word yet on when it might go back below the overall flood stage of 17 feet.
