Yesterday two area teams battled in the Division 4 semi-finals at the Wisconsin State High School Baseball Tournament at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute. The Mineral Point Pointers still have a perfect record as the defeated Belmont 6-2. The Pointers scored 6 runs on 5 hits including the first homer of the state tournament by starting pitcher Liam Stumpf and were also aided by 5 Belmont errors. Belmont had 2 runs on 7 hits and had the bases loaded in the top of the 7th when the final out was recorded. The Braves finished their season with a 17-and-9 record.
Because of weather delays yesterday at the tournament the today’s schedule has been adjusted, Mineral Point will meet (29-0) Webster this morning at approximately 10:30. Webster defeated two time defending champion Athens in the first semi-final game of the day this morning.
