Midwest Scroll Saw And Woodworking Trade Show This Weekend in Dubuque

The Midwest Scroll Saw and Woodworking Trade Show takes place this weekend at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds. The show will feature demonstrations in the Scroll Saw Corral, a showcase that displays past accomplishments in woodworking and scroll sawing, classes, vendors, door prizes and much more. Co-organizer Karen Boleman has been scroll sawing for years, and she says it takes a lot of practice to hone your skill. This is the 20th year of the show, which started in Pontiac, Illinois, before moving to Richland Center, Wisconsin for nine years. This is the fourth year of the show being held in Dubuque. Charlie Brimeyer, former head of the Dubuque County Veterans Affairs Commission says he first found out about the show in a national scroll saw magazine, and he’s been hooked ever since. Brimeyer says the show is particularly stimulating for veterans, especially those who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder and other mental illnesses. The show will be held Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds.
