Meeting to Appoint New East Dubuque Mayor Postponed

East Dubuque will be without a mayor for a week longer than expected. Last Thursday, Daniel Welp resigned as East Dubuque’s mayor. At that time, it was expected that the City Council would appoint a new mayor at its next meeting on August 6th. But that meeting has been postponed by a week, until the 13th. Until then, Second Ward Council Representative and Mayor Pro-Tem Steve Robey is handling the duties of the mayor. Whoever the council appoints to serve as Welp’s replacement would be in office for the remainder of his term, which expires in April.
