McGraw-Hill To Cut Jobs

McGraw-Hill, a major publishing company in Dubuque has announced a reduction in employees. McGraw-Hill will be cutting 28 jobs at its’ Dubuque location, but it’s not known when the cuts will take effect. The employees who will lose their jobs work in various capacities within the company. A company spokesman says they’ll be helping the workers with the transition process. Iowa Workforce Development notified officials at Greater Dubuque Development Corporation of the impending cuts. GDDC President and CEO Rick Dickinson who says once they receive written verification from McGraw-Hill of the details of the employees impacted by the cuts they’ll be reaching out to help them find other work within the community. McGraw–Hill is cutting jobs at its’ other facilities across the country and Dickinson says publishing is a very volatile industry right now. At one point McGraw-Hill’s workforce in Dubuque consisted of around 400 people. Before the latest announced cuts that number stood at around 260.
