Mass To Resume For Catholic Churches In Dubuque

The long-awaited word on when Catholic parishes in Dubuque will be allowed to reopen is here. Archbishop Michael Jackels announced today that beginning May 30th and the 31st, the parishes throughout the 30 northeastern counties in Iowa, including Dubuque will be able to gather for outreach to the poor, for faith formation programs and for the public celebration of Mass and Sacraments. The Archbishop says in a press release that those who are sick, or frail due to advanced age or have underlying medical conditions or are nervous about getting COVID-19 should not be gathering together for any reason and everyone will still remain dispensed from the law to participate in Mass on Sundays and Holy days until further notice or until a vaccine becomes available. The Archbishop says they will continue to monitor trends in positive coronavirus tests, hospitalizations and deaths.
