Man Leaves ID In Stolen Vehicle

If you’re going to steal a vehicle, it’s probably not a good idea to leave your calling card in the vehicle. That’s exactly what a Dubuque man did. Online court records say 33 year old Michael Fitzgerald is charged with 3rd degree burglary, operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest stems from three separate incidents earlier this year. In one incident Fitzgerald is charged with stealing a van that was parked in the 50 block of South Locust Street in May. The van was recovered several days later. A few days later, the owner found Fitzgerald’s ID card between the front seats on the floor of the van. When police arrested Fitzgerald he had drug paraphernalia in his pocket.
