Man Charged After Head Butting Officers

A man was arrested by Dubuque police last week, and after his arrested police say he head butted two officers causing significant injuries. On Tuesday, the attorney for 22 year old Mathew Foxhood filed a written not-guilty plea on behalf of his client. Foxhood is charged with two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations causing injury, interference with official acts, providing false identification information and voluntary absence from custody. Last Friday, an officer saw Foxhood walking near the downtown area. When the officer approached him, Foxhood gave the officer a false name, but the officer knew there was a warrant out for his arrest for not returning to the correctional facility on Elm Street. After he was in custody, documents say Foxhood told police not to touch him, or they would be assaulted. As officers grabbed him, Foxhood head-butted the officers. One officer was head-butted in the forehead, which caused a deep laceration, while another officer suffered a possible fractured nose.
