Man Accused in Birthday Bank Robbery Sentenced to Prison
A Jones County man accused of robbing a bank on his birthday will spend his next five birthdays in prison. 46-year-old Joseph Kripner of Monticello was sentenced to five years in federal prison last week. According to prosecutors, Kripner held up the Security State Bank in Springville last June. He reportedly displayed what appeared to be a gun to a teller before handing her a plastic grocery bag and telling her to put money into it. He made off with about $4,000. From the bank, Kripner headed to Colorado. He was arrested in Rocky Mountain National Park after being spotted near the vehicle he had used to leave the bank. Police say he had about $600 in cash on him at the time of his arrest, as well as marijuana and the pellet gun he had shown to the teller.
