Loras Student Named Newman Civic Fellow

A student at Loras College has been selected as a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a Boston non-profit working to advance the public purposes of higher education. Halley Schultz, a native of Dubuque is one of 290 students nationwide who will make up the organization’s 2020-2021 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows. The students selected are leaders on their campuses, who demonstrate a commitment to finding solutions for challenges facing their communities. As a Newman Fellow, Schultz will lead a project to build on existing data about housing needs in Dubuque by researching how other communities are addressing these needs through housing co-operatives and land trusts. Schultz was nominated for a Newman Fellow by Naomi Clark, associate professor of English at Loras.
