Lansing Mississippi Bridge Closure Begins This Week
The Mississippi River crossing in Clayton County will likely begin seeing some additional traffic today. That’s because of a closure at the next river crossing to the north. The Black Hawk Bridge will be closed beginning today. That’s the bridge that connects Lansing, Iowa, with De Soto, Wisconsin. Crews will be removing and replacing some steel pieces of the bridge during the closure. With the Black Hawk Bridge closed, the nearest alternate river crossing is the Marquette-Joliet Bridge, which connects Marquette, Iowa, with Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Using that crossing will add an hour to the trip across the river. But it’s still closer than the nearest bridge to the north, which is nearly 90 minutes away in La Crosse. The Black Hawk Bridge closure is expected to last about a week.
