Kennedy:”Stop Selling CBD Products”

Dubuque County is taking a stance against the sale of CBD products. Cannabidiol, or CBD is the second most prevalent active ingredient in marijuana. By itself it doesn’t cause a person to get high. Dubuque County sheriff Joe Kennedy says the Drug Task Force visited each business and bought its’ CBD products and they tested them for THC, which is the chemical in marijuana that does cause a high. Kennedy says only a few actually contained that chemical, however it is still illegal to sell the product, no matter its’ THC level. The sheriff tells our coverage partners at KCRG TV that Dubuque County attorney C.J. May sent letters to those businesses last week that are known to sell products that have CBD as a warning to stop. Kennedy is meeting with the county attorney this week to discuss how they should move forward with businesses who have not complied.
