Low-Income Energy Assistance Program

Through the Month of April, Individuals at or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines are eligible to apply for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program facilitated through the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program. Persons in Dubuque, Delaware, Jones and Jackson counties can download an application and get complete information at www.hacap.org/energy  

James B. and Melita A. McDonough Foundation Grant Applications through May 31st 

The application period for nonprofit organizations to apply for a grant from the James B. and Melita A. McDonough Foundation is open through May 31st. Interested charities may visit the Foundation’s website at mcdonoughcharitablefoundation.org to complete their submission using the online application form found on the website.  The directors will review these in June and make awards in July this year.

Carnegie-Stout Public Library Free Program

The Carnegie-Stout Public Library will offer a special mystery-by-mail program to city resident cardholders during the month of May. This program is free, but participation is limited, so registration is required. To register, please visit bit.ly/DearHolmesDBQ or call the library at (563) 589-4225 by April 16th.

Dubuque Regional Humane Society Garage Sale May 14th to16th 

Dubuque Regional Humane Society’s Garage Sale is a three-day event May 14th thru May 16th from 11:00am to 5:00pm at 4242 Chavenelle Road. They offer quality gently-used and new items at affordable prices with money raised used to help care for the sheltered animals. There will be a food truck on site.

Wahlert Open best-shot golf tournament Registration

The annual Wahlert Open best-shot golf tournament will be held on Monday, June 14th at Thunder Hills Country Club, in Peosta with a 1:00pm shotgun start. Participants may register individually or with a foursome. Guests may also join the golfers for the dinner and program following the tournament. Register at holyfamilydbq.org/wahlert-open. Venture Into the Wild with Girl Scouts 

The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois are partnering with Dubuque County Conservation, Dubuque County Hunter Safety Instructors, and Iowa DNR Conservation Officers to teach area girls outdoor survival skills. Dubuque Police Department ‘Shop with a Cop’ Program Donations

Donations are being accepted through August to support the annual Dubuque Police Department ‘Shop with a Cop’ program which purchases back-to-school clothing and supplies for area children. Donors can make checks out to Dubuque Police Protective Association and can be delivered to the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center at 770 Iowa Street. Caregiver Support Group for Caregivers of Dementia Patients/Family Members
