Dubuque native Kayla Banwarth received numerous awards during her volleyball playing career at Wahlert High School, the University of Nebraska, and as a professional, now she has the first award of her young coaching career.
Banwarth, an assistant on the University of Nebraska staff has received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30 Award. The award was created to honor 30 up-and-coming coaches under 30 years old at all levels of the sport. Banwarth was one of 11 NCAA Division I women’s coaches selected this year.
Banwarth finished up her playing career with the U.S. National Team at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 where team USA won the bronze medal.
