Julien Bridge Project Near Completion

It won’t be long now before the Julien Dubuque Bridge is fully open to traffic 24/7. For the past couple of months crews with the Iowa Department of Transportation have been working on a lighting replacement project, which requires the eastbound lane to be closed from 7 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. Dot Engineer Hugh Holak says the lights should be connected today, and if all goes as planned the project should be done by the end of the week. All of the lights on the bridge have been replaced, making for a safer drive across and fiber optic has also been installed on the south side of the bridge so the city can put in traffic cameras. The project is all part of the DOT’s bridge maintenance program. Earlier this year a bridge washing project was completed.
