Iowa’s Ride in Dubuque

Dubuque will be a part of the first ‘Iowa’s Ride’ bicycle event in July of 2020. The group organizing the event made the announcement Wednesday. The inaugural bike ride will go from Dubuque to Rock Rapids in a 416 mile route across the state, starting Sunday July 12 and continuing through Saturday July 18. The ride will finish in Rock Rapids. This is an east to west route, and will be held the week before the RAGBRAI ride. The first overnight stay will be in Monticello in Jones County. The former RAGBRAI director and staff members resigned from that organization and started ‘Iowa’s Ride’.
Also – ‘Iowa’s Ride’ officials have announced that after all expenses are paid, the remaining proceeds from the ride will be given to charities in the state of Iowa. They say a foundation is being formed that will have an appointed, independent board of Iowans that will review the finances and make sure funds are being distributed properly. In 2020, half of the proceeds will go to support the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The remaining proceeds will be given to charities in each of our host communities.
