The Hawkeyes overcame a sluggish second half offensively to beat the Cornhuskers for a fifth straight year and second year in a row on a late field goal. Nebraska scored twice in the third quarter to erase a 14-point deficit. The Huskers failed to get bowl eligible for a third straight year.
NICEVILLE, Florida (AP) — Eric Hunter Jr. and Jahaad Proctor each scored 12 points, including crucial free throws in the final two minutes, as Purdue upset No. 20 VCU 59-56 in the Emerald Coast Classic. The win put Purdue (4-2) in the championship game Saturday against Florida State and handed VCU (6-1) its first loss.

Jon Teske added 19 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks as the tournament’s most valuable player for the Wolverines. Michigan beat sixth-ranked UNC on Thursday and finished a three-game run to the title by giving first-year coach Juwan Howard another marquee win. Killian Tillie had 20 points for Gonzaga.
PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) — Myles Powell scored 19 of his 24 points after halftime to help No. 13 Seton Hall beat Iowa State 84-76 in the fifth-place game at the Battle 4 Atlantis. Sandro Mamukelashvili added 18 points for the Pirates, who finally took control with a 12-2 second-half run. Rasir Bolton scored 20 points for the Cyclones.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Malachi Flynn scored all of his 28 points after halftime to lead San Diego State past Iowa 83-73 as the Aztecs rallied from a 16-point first-half deficit in Las Vegas Invitational championship game. Flynn, the tournament’s MVP, also had five rebounds and four assists while going 9 of 9 from the free-throw line. Jordan Schakel and Yanni Wetzell each had 14 points for the Aztecs (8-0) _ their best start since 2010-11, when they were also was 8-0.
