Following Sunday’s announcement from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds recommending school closures for the next four weeks due to precautions surrounding the COVID 19, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and the Iowa High School Athletic Association will postpone the start or resumption of spring sports calendar through at least the four week time period. All Iowa high school sports are now in a prohibited period for practice, competition, and sanctioned activity until the closure is lifted. More information and schedule updates will be provided as they become available from each of the activity organizations.
Wisconsin and Illinois High School spring sports seasons were already suspended after both state’s governors announced school closures suspended while Iowa is expected to make an announcement today regarding the upcoming spring sports schedule.
Local college spring sports at Loras College, University of Dubuque, Clarke University and UW Platteville have had also been cancelled or indefinitely suspended .
