Iowa Cracks Top 15

The Iowa men’s basketball team is now in the top 15 of the new Associated Press weekly college basketball rankings.

Iowa, unbeaten at 5-0 moved from 20th a last week and are 14th this week. Iowa will be back in action tomorrow night when they host Pittsburgh as part of the ACC-Big 10 Challenge. The Panthers are 6-and-0 on the season, but unranked. Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery said yesterday junior Cordell Pemsl will not be in the line-up again tomorrow night. The former Wahlert prep has been recovering from an injury sustained in practice following the game against UMKC on November 8th.

Wisconsin also has moved up in the poll despite their first loss. The Badgers are 22nd this week up three spots. Iowa State received consideration votes again this week.

The new number one is Gonzaga after their victory over previous number one Duke last week. Kansas is ranked 2nd followed by Duke, Virginia, and Nevada rounding out the top five. Tennessee is 6th followed by Michigan, Auburn, Michigan State, and Kentucky.
