Husband, Wife Facing Drug Charges Related to December Apartment Fire

A husband and wife are facing drug charges stemming from a fire at their downtown Dubuque apartment last month. That fire broke out during the evening hours of December 19th in the 300 block of West 17th Street. Neighbors reported hearing an explosion and the fire was deemed suspicious. The residents of the apartment were eventually identified as 27-year-old Jake and 26-year old Danielle Baraglia. After the fire was put out, investigators found marijuana, heroin, and a prescription painkiller in a box with Jake’s name on it. Several days later, on Christmas Eve afternoon, an officer pulled Jake and Danielle over as they were driving on Bluff Street. The officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, and Jake admitted having a small amount in the truck. Danielle had been hiding it in her shirt, took it out, and handed it to Jake. She’s facing a single count of Possession of Marijuana. Jake has been charged with Possession of Heroin, a 3rd offense of Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Police report that both Jake and Danielle have previous felony drug convictions.
