High Speed Weekend Chase

A Dubuque man faces a laundry list of charges after leading police on a high speed chase over the weekend, reaching speeds over 80 mph in the downtown area. At around 5:20 Saturday morning an officer attempted to stop a vehicle that had no taillights near the area of East 16th and Jackson Streets. The vehicle was driven by 22 year old Kyle Wood. When the officer turned on his emergency lights, Wood sped away reaching speeds in excess of 80 mph down Bluff Street. Seconds later Wood smashed into a parked vehicle in the 300 block of West 1st. He then jump out of the wrecked vehicle and ran through several yards. Officers finally caught up with Wood in the 50 block of Locust Street. Police found nearly 30 used needles on Wood as well as numerous plastic baggies that contained methamphetamine residue. Wood is charged with eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with officials acts, operating while intoxicated, driving while barred and numerous traffic violations. He was also served a warrant charging him with 5th degree theft.
