LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — The top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers both earned their third straight win since a series-opening loss in the NBA playoffs. Khris Middleton scored 18 of his 21 points in the final period and finished with 10 rebounds to help the Bucks down the Magic, 121-106. LeBron James furnished 30 points in 28 minutes before taking a seat on the bench in the third quarter of the Lakers’ 135-115 blowout over Portland.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia 76ers have fired coach Brett Brown just a day after his seventh season ended in a postseason sweep by the Boston Celtics. The 76ers were 43-30 this season and had woefully underachieved in a year when they were expected to be serious contenders in the Eastern Conference. Injuries played a key role in their struggles.

TORONTO (AP) — The New York Islanders have won the opener of their Stanley Cup second-round series behind Semyon Varlamov , who posted his second straight shutout with a 29-save effort in a 4-0 win over Philadelphia. Varlamov is the first netminder in Islanders history with consecutive playoff shutouts. Andy Greene opened the scoring in the first period before Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Anders Lee beat Carter Hart during the first eight minutes of the third.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Dallas Stars made it two straight wins over Colorado as Anton Khudobin stopped 39 shots in a 4-2 victory. Dallas trailed 2-0 until Joe Pavelski and Radek Faksa  scored power-play goals 43 seconds apart midway through the second period. Alexander Radulov notched the tiebreaking goal about five minutes later after contributing two goals and an assist in Game 1 on Sunday.
