Hair Extension Thief Arrested Nearly Two Years After Burglary

Dubuque Police have made an arrest in a nearly two-year-old burglary that saw the suspect make off with more than a thousand dollars in hair extensions. 20-year-old Destiny Wilson of Dubuque was taken into custody on Monday morning. She’s charged with 3rd Degree Burglary in connection with a break-in at a beauty store in January of 2017. That’s when the owner of Beauty by Moke on Crescent Ridge reported her business had been broken into. According to the owner, someone broke a window, causing about $300 in damage. The burglar then swiped the hair extensions, which had a total value of more than $1,000. Police say fingerprints found on the broken window match Wilson’s. She also matches the description of the suspect that police developed based on surveillance video and a witness statement. If convicted on the burglary charge, Wilson could spend up to five years in prison.
