Grant County Man Faces Drug And Gun Charges

A Grant County man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on drug and gun charges. 34-year-old Dustin Caya of Mount Hope is accused of planning to sell more than 50 grams of meth, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and using a gun during a drug trafficking crime. The indictment alleges that Caya had both the meth and a loaded rifle on June 1st. It also claims that he was in possession of a total of 17 loaded firearms, including nine rifles, three shotguns, and five handguns. Caya could be looking at anywhere between 20 and 55 years in prison. If convicted on the meth charge, Caya faces a mandatory sentence of five years in federal prison, with a possible maximum sentence of 40 years. The drug trafficking charge has a mandatory sentence of five years in prison, while the firearm possession count carries a ten year prison term.
