With many people holding graduation parties this weekend in the Tri-State area, Dubuque Public Health Specialist Mary Rose Corrigan is reminding everyone to try their best to stay safe. Corrigan says the more people are at a party and the longer it lasts, the better the chances are they could catch COVID-19. Low and high risk options make a big difference when people are planning a gathering. If you are planning to have a medium or larger graduation party, try to maintain social distancing and avoid inviting people from other areas if possible. Corrigan says outdoor gatherings and wearing masks when in close contact with people are ways to better the odds of staying safe. Corrigan says if elderly people or people with underlying health issues plan on attending graduation parties or other gatherings take extra precautions to keep them safe.
