Geisler Brothers Fire

Dubuque fire fighters were at the scene of a fire at Geisler Brothers Saturday morning. Fire Chief Rick Steines says crews responded to the fire at around 9 Saturday morning in the 1500 block of Radford Road. When crews arrived, the building was full of smoke. The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported. It’s reported that the fire began in an area in the rear of Dubuque Steel Manufacturing. Neither Dubuque Steel or Geisler Brothers was open at the time. Steines says the probable cause was some rags which ignited other combustibles in a trash can. There was no structural damage to Geisler, but there was significant smoke damage. The estimated cost of that damage is not known at this time and the investigation continues.
