Funding Allocated For COVID-19 Response

The Dubuque County Supervisors have voted to allocate $950,000 for the potential outbreak of COVID-19 in the county. Supervisor Jay Wickham says the bulk of the appropriation is for the county health department. He says the department will use the $500,000 allocation to put things in place for the safety of all county residents. The Emergency Management Department, headed by Tom Berger is getting a $200,000 increase to its’ budget. That money will be used to fully activate the emergency response team on demand if need be. The Dubuque County Emergency Response Team on COVID-19 consist of city, county and health care professionals and they meet on a daily basis. And thanks to technology they are doing it online, adhering to the Governor’s disaster emergency declaration. The board also appointed oncologist Dr. Bobby Koneru as the county’s medical liaison for COVID-19 efforts.
