Finkenauer Dyersville Farm Visit

Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer and Federal Communications Commissioner, Jessica Rosenworcel, paid a visit to the Dyersville farm of Jeff Pape Monday to discuss the need to expand broadband access in Eastern Iowa. Finkenauer, who serves on the Rural Broadband Task Force, says it was exciting to visit a farm to learn firsthand how important it is to farmers to have good broadband access. Finkenauer says if you are not a farmer, you may not realize how precision agriculture tools help farmers like Jeff Pape grow their operations. Eastern Iowa farms, especially ones near the Mississippi River, have the bluffs to deal with that make broadband access tougher to rely on. FCC Commissioner Rosenworcel says the future of farming will be dependent on having the best broadband coverage possible in order to be successful. Finkenauer has introduced the Broadband Transparency and Accountability Act in Congress to address the digital divide through inproved broadband mapping.
