DUBUQUE, Iowa — Dubuque Fighting Saints goalie Matthew Thiessen has been named the USHL Goaltender of the Week. Thiessen set a Fighting Saints Tier-1 record with a 44-save shutout performance against the Chicago Steel on Saturday night at Mystique Community Ice Center.
Thiessen, a Vancouver Canucks draft pick and a Maine Black Bears commit has appeared in 46 games this season, which is sixth-most in the USHL. The shutout was the first of Thiessen’s USHL career. He became the fourth Fighting Saint to claim weekly honors this season from the USHL.
Dubuque finishes the regular season this weekend with a game at Waterloo on Friday night and then home against the Blackhawks on Saturday night.
