Field Of Dreams Tourist Boom

The city of Dubuque signed an agreement with Major League Baseball this week. They’re promising to work together for the Field of Dreams baseball game this summer. The Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees are facing each other at a new stadium by the famous Dyersville field on August 13th. It’s not everyday Major League baseball plays a game in Dubuque’s backyard, and the city is preparing for the tourism and buzz that is sure to come with the game. Keith Rahe president and CEO of Travel Dubuque tells our coverage partners at KCRG TV the tourism boost that Dubuque will get from the game is incomparable to anything else. With construction ahead of schedule on the playing field, Roman Weinburg, director of baseball operations for Go the Distance says surrounding cities like Dyersville and Dubuque have made the process that much easier. The agreement signed by Dubuque and MLB outlines things like transportation, security, MLB approval for city sponsored watch parties and how cities can advertise the game.
