Feed the Need Luncheon and Silent Auction

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and its youth grantmaking board, are holding a special fundraiser at the end of this month. Jenna Manders, Director of Strategic Partnerships, says YAPPERS is composed of 30 students from all three Dubuque high schools. They spend the academic year learning about community issues affecting local youth. The 15th annual Feed the Need silent auction and soup luncheon is a big fundraiser for the group, who have raised thousands of dollars for youth. Manders says each year the YAPPERS receive grant requests from local youth-serving nonprofit organizations. The high school students have the opportunity to review grants, go on site visits and make funding decisions to benefit local youth. The Feed the Need event will be held October 31st, in the Roshek Building lobby, 700 Locust Street. Between 11 am and 1 pm, the public is invited to stop by for lunch, including several varieties of soup and bread provided by local eateries. There will also be a silent auction, with items donated by local businesses. The cost is $10 at the door, and all proceeds will support 2020 YAPPERS grants.
