NASCAR will be paying special tribute to fallen services members during this Memorial Day Weekend. One of those who will be honored has ties to Dubuque. The Coca Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway once again this year will honor some fallen service members with their names featured on the windshields of all the race cars and several of the pace cars. The car number 96 Toyota Camry driven by Daniel Suarez for Gaunt Brothers Racing will have the name of Dubuque native Ronald Rennison on its windshield. Rennison died in action in February of 1991 while serving in the Army during Operation Desert Storm. Ronald is the brother of Randy Rennison who is the Dubuque County Executive Director of Veterans Affairs.
The Coca Cola 600 is scheduled to start at 5 o’clock Sunday evening.
