Evers Sworn in as Wisconsin Governor

Wisconsin officially has a new governor. Former state schools superintendent Tony Evers was sworn in yesterday as the state’s 46th governor. He won the office by defeating incumbent Republican Scott Walker in last November’s election. During his inaugural address, Evers highlighted several of the issues he campaigned on, including providing full funding to every level of Wisconsin’s public school system. Evers stressed that in his administration, people will come before politics. Among the “Wisconsin values” Evers says he’ll focus on are respect, empathy, and civility. Before leaving office, Walker announced that he would be keeping his campaign bank account open and said that he hasn’t ruled out running for governor in 2022.
