Ernst Judge Coney Barrett Hearing

Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett is set to face senators’ questions during a third day of confirmation hearings Wednesday. Iowa Senator Joni Ernst says Democrats have no choice but to make personal attacks because they can’t deny that Barrett is qualified. Ernst says she agrees with Barrett who declared Monday that Americans “deserve an independent Supreme Court that interprets our Constitution and laws as they are written.” Ernst says Judge Barrett has the temperament to be a great Supreme Court Justice. The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a vote to approve Judge Barrett’s nomination for 9 am Thursday, the morning of the last day of hearings. Barrett’s nomination is expected to be brought up for a vote at that meeting and then delayed for a week, per committee rules.
