Easton Valley School Threat-Classes Cancelled

A Jackson County school is closed today after a student left a threatening post online. The Jackson County Sheriff’s office received a call from Easton Valley Administration Thursday shortly after 10 pm making them aware of a threat posted to social media by an Easton Valley student. The Sheriff’s office were able to identify the juvenile making the threat, based on Snapchat account information, as well as other information received from concerned community members that had observed the post. Authorities arrived at the student’s home around 11 pm and the juvenile was taken into custody. The weapon and mask portrayed in the social media post were found and taken into evidence. The student was transported to the Jackson County Regional Health Center. Easton Valley will have no classes Friday and the incident is under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s office, Easton Valley Administration, and Preston Police Department. Charges are pending.
