Dubuque Woman Pleads to Hit and Run, Stealing Vehicle

A Dubuque woman has pled guilty to charges related to a hit and run in southwest Wisconsin. Back in March, 51-year-old Krista Hemple-Anderson was accused of getting into a wreck, then stealing the car of a witness who stopped to help. She recently pled guilty to charges of Taking and Driving a Vehicle Without Consent, Hit and Run, and Reckless Driving Causing Bodily Harm. A second reckless driving charge was dropped in exchange for those pleas. According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Hemple-Anderson had been driving west on Wisconsin Highway 11 near Hazel Green. She tried to pass another vehicle, but collided with a truck and trailer that was backing into a driveway. The driver of the truck and a passenger in Hemple-Anderson’s car were both injured. When a witness stopped to help, Hemple-Anderson got into their car and drove off. That vehicle was eventually found in an alley in Dubuque.
