Dubuque Men Arrested For Drive-By Retaliation Shooting

Two Dubuque men face charges after police say they shot another man in retaliation for a drive-by shooting earlier this year on the city’s north end. 24 year old Deonta J.D. Massey-Beavers and 24 year old Javarise Jackson were arrested this week. Both are charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent and reckless use of a firearm causing bodily injury. Police say Massey-Beavers and Jackson shot a man in a drive-by shooting on July 22nd in the 400 block of West Locust Street. The victim, 26 year old Denzel Hayes of Dubuque was shot in the leg, but survived. Court records say that Hayes was shot in retaliation for the shooting of Massey-Beaver’s brother in June. That incident occurred in the 2000 block of Jackson Street.
