Dubuque Man/Teen Charged With Burglary

A Dubuque man faces a burglary charge after police say he and a teenager conspired to break into a business in Dubuque early Tuesday morning. 20 year old Brenden Tarrence is charged with second degree burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia. A police report says that at around 1:45 officers were called to Beecher’s Beverage on Asbury Road to investigate a report of a break-in at the business. Police reviewed store surveillance video, which showed a person removing an exterior camera on the property, before breaking a window to gain access. The burglar took alcohol and tobacco products, before he was chased by an employee as he fled to a nearby car with a person inside who drove him away. Police found a hammer and blood at the scene of the crime. The suspect vehicle was later located in the 1,800 block of Loras Blvd near the home of Tarrence. Some of the stolen items were found inside the car. A search warrant was executed at Tarrence’s residence, where police found more items along with a hammer and a sweatshirt and tennis shoes with blood on them. The teenager has not been formally charged.
