Dubuque Man Sentenced On Drug Charges

A Dubuque man will be spending nearly a decade in federal prison after being sentenced recently. 42 year old Juvan Brown had pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids to possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to distribute. As part of the plea agreement a second charged of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute was dismissed. Brown has a prior felony conviction in Indiana of dealing heroin. In March of 2018 Brown, a confidential informant and a juvenile female went to Chicago so Brown could get drugs. The vehicle was stopped by Dubuque police, and they found over 7 grams of heroin and over 20 grams of cocaine. After he serves his prison sentence Brown will be placed on 6 years of probation.
