Dubuque Man Sentenced On Drug Charges

A convicted felon from Dubuque will be spending two years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a gun charge. In July, 22- year old Johnnie Raymond pled guilty to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm in federal court in Cedar Rapids. Raymond was among 30 people indicted last summer on federal gun violations. Documents say he was unlawfully in possession of a gun while riding as a passenger in a car that was stopped by police. He was also prohibited from possessing firearms because of a previous conviction of felony crimes involving gang participation and forgery in Dubuque County. He was also a drug user which prohibited him from having firearms. Raymond will be placed on three years of probation once he is released from prison.
