Dubuque Man Pleads Guilty To Selling Drugs Related To Deaths

A Dubuque man, who prosecutors say sold three deadly doses of opioids last year, has pleaded guilty. 38 year old Travis Jones plead guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute controlled substances near a protected location resulting in death. In federal court in Cedar rapids this week, Jones admitted to conspiring with others to distribute opioids in Dubuque in April and May of 2019.  He also admitted that he personally sold mixtures of heroin, fentanyl and a synthetic opioid that were used by three people who then died of overdoses. Jones will be sentenced after a pre-sentence report is prepared. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years and a maximum of life in prison and a 2-million dollar fine.
