Dubuque Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A Dubuque man, who police say shot another man for intervening while he was propositioning two females Thursday night, has been charged with attempted murder. Police arrested 24 year old Shawn Turner Sr. early Friday morning in the 2200 block of Jackson Street. A police report says at around 10:40, Turner got of a vehicle in the 2300 block of Central and began propositioning a woman and her young daughter. 39 year old Jerramy Vasquez was sitting on his porch and approached Turner. The two became involved in an altercation before Turner got back into the passenger side of the vehicle which began to pull away. Turner then pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at Vasquez, striking him once in the thigh. Vasquez was taken to Finely Hospital to be treated. Police used traffic camera footage to identify Turner as the shooter. In addition to the attempted murder charge, Turner is also charged with public intoxication.
