A Dubuque man is among the volunteers the American Red Cross has dispatched to help with hurricane recovery efforts. Marty Schiessl of Dubuque left for North Carolina on Tuesday. He’s one of about a dozen Red Cross volunteers from across Iowa that will be assisting with relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Florence. Red Cross leaders say that having Iowans involved in the clean-up will not only help those in the path of the storm, but is a benefit to Iowa as well. This is Schiessl’s 14th deployment in just four years of volunteering with the Red Cross.
