Dubuque HIV Sentencing

A Dubuque man will be spending 30 days in jail for not telling his partner that he was HIV positive. 32 year old Frederick Moore pleaded guilty to criminal transmission of a contagious or infectious disease not resulting in infection. In July Moore’s partner took him to the hospital with a respiratory issue. The woman became alarmed when the attending physician asked Moore if he had been taken his HIV medications. When the doctor stepped out of the room Moore told the woman he didn’t know what the doctor was talking about, but later admitted that he had not been taking his HIV medications. He also told investigators he did not tell his partner that he was HIV positive. The woman was subsequently tested for HIV twice and the results came back nonreactive.
