Dubuque Drug Dealer Sentenced

A Dubuque man, who prosecutors labeled as “a career offender” is going to prison. 31 year old Jerry Towns was sentenced to over 12 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty late last year in federal court to selling cocaine. Prosecutors say Towns sold cocaine either near a park or school on four different occasions in 2017 and 2018. In 2018 police stopped a car in which Towns was a passenger. At the same time police had a warrant to search Town’s home. He called his girlfriend and told her to get the cocaine and a loaded handgun out of the house before police arrive. His girlfriend was stopped by police as she was leaving and authorities seized the drugs and the gun. Towns had two prior felony offenses for distributing cocaine and 11 other adult criminal convictions.
